Relying prematurely on such tests risks both false positives and false negatives, which could lead to inappropriate medical decisions and possibly harm soldier welfare. Brain injuries can manifest with complex symptoms that a single test may not fully capture, highlighting the importance of comprehensive assessment approaches.
Furthermore, integrating this technology requires substantial training for medical personnel to correctly interpret and act on results. The Army must avoid overdependence on blood tests without corroborating clinical evaluation and imaging where appropriate.
There is also the question of whether the existing technology can reliably function in the diverse operational environments soldiers face, including remote or austere field conditions.
Until the tests are extensively validated and protocols developed to address limitations, caution is advisable to prevent undermining soldier care.
