A rapidly escalating wildfire near Boston Bar, British Columbia, has prompted urgent evacuation orders from local authorities. The Boothroyd Indian Band issued an evacuation order on Sunday morning, following a similar directive from the Fraser Valley Regional District for residents in the North Bend area. The Brunswick Creek fire, which was first detected on July 2, has since expanded to 100 hectares and is believed to have been ignited by human activity. The evacuation orders primarily affect areas along the western side of the Fraser River near Boston Bar, as well as regions on the eastern shore of the river north of the community. An evacuation alert has also been issued for the community itself, which has a population of just under 200 people. British Columbia’s Forests Minister, Ravi Parmar, stated that the BC Wildfire Service continues to support the local fire department with crews and equipment, including helicopters equipped with night vision.
