Rogers Communications Inc. has announced an agreement to purchase the remaining 25% ownership stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) from Kilmer Sports Inc. for C$4.35 billion, increasing Rogers' ownership in MLSE to 100%.

This acquisition follows Rogers' previous purchase of a 37.5% stake from Bell Canada in 2025, bringing its total ownership to 75%. MLSE owns several professional sports teams in Toronto, including the NHL's Maple Leafs, the NBA's Raptors, and the CFL's Argonauts.

Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, stated, "This is a defining moment for Rogers. Our full ownership of MLSE brings together Canada’s premier communications company with Canada’s premier sports and entertainment organization."

Edward Rogers, Executive Chair of Rogers, emphasized the company's commitment to Canadian sports, saying, "Winning is everything for fans, and we’re committed to investing to bring championships to Canada as a proud owner and long-term steward of these beloved teams."

The transaction is subject to league approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Rogers intends to finance this transaction with its committed liquidity and plans to sell a minority stake in the consolidated Rogers sports, media, and entertainment assets over the next year.

This move solidifies Rogers' position as a leading player in the Canadian sports and entertainment industry, aiming to enhance fan experiences and deliver more value to customers.
