Deutsche Bank has announced its highest-ever quarterly profit, attributing the success to robust performance in its investment banking division. The bank reported a net profit of €1.912 billion for the first quarter of 2026, surpassing analyst expectations of €1.768 billion. This marks a significant increase from the €1.775 billion profit recorded in the same period last year.
The investment banking sector played a pivotal role in this achievement. The division's revenues remained stable compared to the previous year, despite facing macroeconomic and foreign exchange challenges. Notably, revenues in Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) reached €2.9 billion, closely aligning with the record set in the prior year. This stability underscores the resilience of Deutsche Bank's investment banking operations.
CEO Christian Sewing highlighted the significance of this performance, especially amid global uncertainties. He stated, "This achievement is even more remarkable given the increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment since the beginning of the year, especially the conflict in the Middle East."
Looking ahead, Deutsche Bank remains optimistic about its trajectory. The bank has reaffirmed its commitment to meeting its 2026 revenue target of approximately €33 billion, emphasizing continued cost discipline and strong capital levels.
