In Zaragoza, a blaze originating in the municipality of Orés has expanded rapidly, consuming over 4,500 hectares of land. The fire has forced the evacuation of residents from five municipalities, including Orés, Asín, Luesia, Malpica de Arba, and Uncastillo, as authorities struggle to contain the flames amid challenging weather conditions. Emergency services have reported that the fire has caused significant damage to at least ten homes in the town of Asín.
Simultaneously, a separate wildfire in the Sierra Norte of Guadalajara has triggered emergency responses in the municipality of La Mierla. Authorities ordered the evacuation of the town's approximately forty residents and implemented preventive confinement measures for nearby areas, including the Beleña reservoir and the town of Muriel. The fire, which is reportedly advancing at a rate of 30 meters per minute, has prompted the regional government to request assistance from the national military emergency unit to bolster local firefighting efforts.
These incidents are occurring during a period of extreme fire risk across the country, characterized by high temperatures and erratic winds. In the Madrid region, another fire near Lozoyuela has led to the confinement of residents in Buitrago de Lozoya and surrounding areas, while also forcing the closure of the A-1 motorway. Firefighting crews are working under difficult conditions, with authorities emphasizing that the situation remains fluid and dangerous for both residents and emergency personnel.
