CUPRA, the performance arm of SEAT, has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Raval, boasting a range of over 440 kilometers. The compact hatchback is designed to bring a sporty feel to the EV market, targeting younger drivers looking for an affordable yet dynamic electric car. The Raval is built on the Volkswagen Group's MEB Small platform, which also underpins models like the Volkswagen ID.3 and the upcoming Škoda Elroq. Its 440 km range, according to CUPRA, is achieved through a 56 kWh battery pack and is expected to cover daily commutes and weekend trips with ease. The Raval's exterior features sharp lines and a distinctive front grille, emphasizing CUPRA's design language. Production is set to begin in 2025 at the SEAT factory in Martorell, Spain, marking a significant step for the brand's electrification strategy. The Raval is named after the vibrant Barcelona neighborhood, reflecting CUPRA's Spanish roots. With starting prices expected around €30,000, the car aims to compete with models like the Renault 5 EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric. CUPRA has not released official performance figures yet but promises a 0-to-100 km/h time of under 7 seconds for the top variant. The vehicle will also feature advanced connectivity and driver assistance systems. For the Spanish market, where EV adoption is growing but still lags behind northern Europe, the Raval could be a key model to boost domestic electric car sales. The vehicle is scheduled for a public debut at the 2025 Barcelona Motor Show.
