Daniel Mateo, a collaborator with the Civil Guard, recounted a meeting where Leire Díez explicitly named "the One" as Pedro Sánchez. Mateo organized this encounter between Díez and Commander Rubén Villalba, who is implicated in the "Koldo case." According to Mateo, Díez's assertion that "the One" was Pedro Sánchez was made under his persistent questioning. He also noted that she mentioned Mercedes González, the Director General of the Civil Guard, was informed about the activities and had even called during their meetings. Additionally, Mateo highlighted discussions about plans to remove Manuel Llamas, the Deputy Director of Operations of the Civil Guard, and to dismiss Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska. Mateo expressed confidence in the credibility of Díez's statements, citing a conversation with Koldo García that lent further weight to her claims. After the meetings, Mateo prepared an oral report and retained his notes, which have not been requested by authorities to date.
