A devastating house fire in Benalmádena, Spain, has claimed the lives of two minors, aged 10 and 15. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the Arroyo de la Miel area. The children's mother sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital. The fire broke out around 5:40 AM in a four-story building on Ónix Street, a residential area near the A-7 highway and the Tívoli amusement park. Emergency services, including firefighters from Benalmádena, Mijas, and Fuengirola, as well as police and medical teams, responded promptly. Despite their efforts, the two minors perished, and a firefighter was injured during the operation. Several police officers and firefighters also required medical attention due to smoke inhalation. The Benalmádena City Council expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy. Mayor Juan Antonio Lara conveyed his condolences to the families, stating, "Today, a terrible pain invades our city." The bodies of the minors have been transferred to the Málaga Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
