The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling process is currently underway, with students navigating the seat allotment rounds for admission into prestigious Indian technical institutes. Following the conclusion of the initial registration period on June 11, 2026, the process has moved through several rounds of seat allocation. As of mid-July, the fourth round of seat allotment has been completed, and candidates are now focused on the final stages of the admission cycle, which is scheduled to conclude on July 16, 2026. This centralized system manages admissions for 138 institutions, including IITs, NITs, and IIITs, ensuring a streamlined experience for thousands of engineering aspirants.
Parallel to the ongoing counselling, the examination organizing body, IIT Roorkee, has addressed concerns regarding the integrity of the JEE Advanced 2026 results. Earlier in June, social media platforms saw the circulation of unofficial rank and marks lists that suggested irregularities in candidate performance. These viral claims alleged that there were suspicious discrepancies in marks between the two papers of the examination. In response, IIT Roorkee conducted a comprehensive review of all examination records and officially dismissed these lists as fabricated and factually incorrect.
The institute clarified that the data circulating online did not match any official records and found no evidence of cheating, malpractice, or system compromise. Addressing specific concerns about mark variations between Paper 1 and Paper 2, officials noted that such fluctuations are a documented phenomenon and not an anomaly. With the official verification complete, the focus for students and parents has shifted back to the critical task of securing and confirming seats through the JoSAA portal. Candidates are advised to follow official updates on the JoSAA website to ensure they meet all reporting deadlines for the remaining rounds.
