Four Democratic Action Party (DAP) assemblymen in Melaka have officially moved to the opposition bench in the State Legislative Assembly. This shift follows the party's decision to withdraw its support for the Barisan Nasional-led state government, a move triggered by the recent passage of a constitutional amendment allowing the appointment of up to seven unelected assembly members. The four representatives, Allex Seah Shoo Chin, Low Chee Leong, Leng Chau Yen, and Kerk Chee Yee, vacated their government positions, including roles as executive councillors and deputy speaker, effective immediately.

The political realignment occurred on the final day of the state assembly sitting. While the DAP representatives have joined the opposition, the Melaka Pakatan Harapan chairman and Amanah assemblyman, Adly Zahari, continues to sit with the government bloc. Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh has stated that the state government will function as usual, noting that the administration maintains a supermajority in the 28-seat assembly regardless of the DAP's withdrawal. He also confirmed that the government has accepted the resignations and ruled out further negotiations, as the official letters were submitted shortly after the party's announcement.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously urged the Melaka DAP to reconsider or delay its withdrawal to maintain focus on state development and public welfare. However, the party leadership maintained that the decision was necessary to uphold democratic principles. The move has increased the opposition bloc in the state assembly to six members. As the state government continues its operations, the long-term impact on the cooperation between the federal-level alliance and the state administration remains a point of observation for political analysts.
