A coroner’s inquiry has concluded that two teenagers who died in 2025 succumbed to fatal levels of methamphetamine, commonly known as Ice. State Coroner Adam Nakhoda revealed on July 15, 2026, that the pair had not only inhaled the drug but had also manufactured their own methamphetamine pills. The findings highlight the extreme risks associated with illicit drug experimentation, particularly among young people who may lack awareness of the lethal potency of such substances.
The incident, which occurred in January 2025, involved a young man and a young woman who were found unresponsive at a private residence. Police investigations determined that the two had voluntarily consumed the drugs. Evidence from the man’s mobile phone, including text messages, indicated that he had obtained the methamphetamine with the intention of selling it and had invited the woman to his home to consume the substance together. Both individuals reportedly had no prior history of drug use.
Authorities discovered the young man in his bedroom, where he had sustained blunt force injuries to his head and face. Investigators noted that these injuries were consistent with the side effects of methamphetamine, which can cause uncontrolled bodily movements and erratic behavior during a state of intense euphoria. The young woman was found unconscious in a separate room and was later pronounced dead at Changi General Hospital.
This case has drawn significant attention due to the young ages of the victims and the fact that they were first-time users.
