A new study by the Singapore-based research group SHE has found that four in 10 people in Singapore have experienced some form of online harm. The survey, which sampled more than 1,000 adults, defined online harm as including cyberbullying, harassment, doxxing, and scam attempts. The findings highlight the pervasive nature of digital risks in a highly connected society like Singapore, where internet penetration exceeds 90%. The study also revealed that younger adults, particularly those aged 18 to 34, reported higher rates of exposure. Common responses included feeling anxious, avoiding online platforms, and losing trust in digital services. The report calls for stronger public education and clearer platform accountability to reduce harm.
