Singapore is set to compete in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, a new tournament aimed at enhancing football development in Southeast Asia. Scheduled from September 21 to October 6, 2026, the competition will feature all 11 ASEAN member nations, including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, and Timor-Leste. The tournament will be divided into two divisions: Division 1, featuring eight teams, and Division 2, comprising six teams. Singapore is expected to participate in Division 1, alongside other top-ranked teams. The competition will be held during the FIFA international match window, ensuring that national teams can field their strongest squads. The winners of Division 1 will receive a grand prize of US$1 million, with all participating teams guaranteed a US$125,000 participation fee. This initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between FIFA and ASEAN in October 2025, aiming to strengthen regional cooperation and promote social development through football. The introduction of the FIFA ASEAN Cup is expected to complement existing regional tournaments, providing additional opportunities for Southeast Asian teams to compete at a higher level.
