In August 2026, approximately 1.5 million eligible Singaporeans will receive cash payouts of up to S$850 under the Goods and Services Tax Voucher (GSTV) scheme, the Ministry of Finance announced on July 9. This initiative aims to assist lower- and middle-income citizens in offsetting their GST expenses.
To qualify, individuals must be Singaporean citizens aged 21 or above in 2026, with an assessable income not exceeding S$39,000 in 2025. Those residing in homes with an annual value of up to S$21,000 will receive S$850, while those in homes valued between S$21,000 and S$31,000 will receive S$450. Additionally, about 710,000 eligible seniors will receive MediSave top-ups ranging from S$150 to S$450, credited directly into their CPF MediSave accounts.
The total disbursement for this GSTV exercise amounts to S$1.4 billion. Eligible recipients who have previously signed up for GSTV – Cash and GSTV – MediSave will automatically receive their payments starting August 7. Notifications will be sent via SMS or letter upon crediting. Citizens can verify their eligibility on the govbenefits website.
The GSTV scheme, introduced in Budget 2012, is a permanent initiative designed to help lower- and middle-income Singaporeans offset their GST expenses.
