A 42-year-old Singaporean man was sentenced to nine weeks in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of molesting his 26-year-old Indonesian domestic worker. The incidents occurred in November 2023 and January 2024, when the employer touched the victim inappropriately while his wife was away. The victim, who had borrowed money from her employer due to a family emergency, initially hesitated to report the molestation, fearing repercussions from both her employer and his wife. The abuse came to light in March 2024 when the employer's wife reported the victim to their maid agency for being distracted at work and borrowing money. During an investigation, the victim disclosed the molestation. The employer admitted to the offenses and apologized to the victim in the presence of the agency and his wife. The court also ordered the employer to pay S$70 in restitution to the victim.
