A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning near the Ontario Police College in Malahide Township, Ontario, when a sedan carrying two Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) constables-in-training collided with a transport truck. The crash resulted in the death of one recruit and left the other in critical condition. The recruits were en route to a training session at the time of the accident. The driver of the transport truck was uninjured. The identities of the recruits have not been released. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. DRPS Chief Peter Moreira expressed profound grief over the loss, stating, "During this difficult time, our focus is on supporting the families of our CITs, as well as their classmates, instructors, friends, and members of our Service who are grieving this tragic loss."
