Judge Santiago Pedraz of Spain's National Court has indicted Leonardo Marcos, former director of the Civil Guard, in the Leire Díez case. Marcos, who led the Civil Guard from June 2023 to September 2024 under Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, is accused of coordinating actions to destabilize judicial proceedings involving the PSOE and the government. The indictment follows a request from the People's Party (PP), which serves as the private prosecution in this case. The PP alleges that Marcos, along with other high-ranking officials, engaged in activities to obstruct investigations into David Sánchez, the brother of the Prime Minister, who was convicted of corruption. The judge has scheduled Marcos's testimony for September 10.
