Four people have died in two separate incidents while attempting to cross the English Channel in small boats, French authorities reported on Thursday. In the first incident, three individuals were found near Dunkirk after a distress call was received around 6 a.m. Rescue teams recovered them from the boat and confirmed their deaths upon reaching shore. In the second incident, which occurred the previous night, a small boat capsized off Hardelot on France's northwest coast. One man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, died, and six others, including a one-year-old child, sustained minor injuries and were treated by emergency services. A judicial investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incidents.
