India has delivered a commendable performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, securing a total of 23 medals across various disciplines. This achievement underscores the nation's growing prowess in sports, even as it faced challenges due to the exclusion of several traditional medal-winning events from the Games' roster.

The Indian contingent, comprising 125 athletes, participated in 13 disciplines, including athletics, boxing, weightlifting, judo, and para-sports. Despite the absence of sports like wrestling, badminton, and shooting from the 2026 programme, India showcased its versatility and depth in other areas.

A highlight of India's campaign was in athletics, where Neeraj Chopra clinched a silver medal in the men's javelin throw, and Yashvir Singh secured bronze in the same event. Tejaswin Shankar made history by becoming the first Indian to win a decathlon medal at the Commonwealth Games, earning a bronze despite battling an injury.

In weightlifting, Lovepreet Singh bagged a silver medal, while Liti Langi won gold, contributing significantly to India's medal tally. The judo team also made history, with Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh becoming India's first judo gold medallists at the Commonwealth Games.

Boxing continued to be a stronghold for India, with 10 boxers reaching the finals, reflecting the sport's growing prominence in the country's sporting landscape.

Looking ahead, the Indian contingent remains focused on maintaining its momentum in the remaining events, aiming to further enhance its standing in the medal table as the Games progress.
