The Singapore government will disburse approximately S$1.4 billion in August 2026 to support lower- and middle-income citizens through the permanent Goods and Services Tax Voucher (GSTV) scheme. This annual distribution includes cash payouts for eligible adults and MediSave top-ups for seniors, aimed at helping households manage daily living expenses and healthcare costs. The initiative serves as a targeted measure to offset the impact of consumption taxes on those most sensitive to price fluctuations.

Approximately 1.5 million Singaporeans are set to receive cash payouts of up to S$850. Eligibility is determined by an individual's assessable income for the 2025 Year of Assessment, which must not exceed S$39,000, and the annual value of their residence. Those living in homes with an annual value of up to S$21,000 qualify for the maximum amount, while those in properties valued between S$21,000 and S$31,000 receive S$450. Recipients must also own no more than one property to qualify.

In addition to cash, about 710,000 seniors aged 65 and above will receive MediSave top-ups ranging from S$150 to S$450. These funds are credited directly into their Central Provident Fund (CPF) MediSave accounts to assist with medical expenses. The exact amount depends on the recipient's age and the annual value of their home. This automatic crediting process ensures that support reaches seniors without requiring them to navigate complex application procedures.

Eligible citizens who have previously signed up for these schemes will receive their payments automatically starting August 7, 2026. Those who have not yet registered have until July 14 to sign up. To facilitate faster disbursement, the Ministry of Finance encourages residents to link their NRIC to PayNow by July 28. Notifications regarding the status of these benefits will be sent via SMS or through official letters for those without registered mobile numbers.
