The four remaining Members of Parliament for the Marine Parade-Braddell Heights Group Representation Constituency (GRC) have announced plans to divide responsibilities for the Kembangan ward among themselves. This decision follows the resignation of former MP Faishal Ibrahim on July 20, 2026, who stepped down from his political office and parliamentary seat after admitting to a lapse of judgment regarding his interactions with a member of the public. Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng confirmed that he, along with fellow MPs Goh Pei Ming, Tin Pei Ling, and Diana Pang, will each oversee specific areas within the Kembangan ward to ensure continuity of service for residents.
To maintain consistent support, the team will handle Meet-the-People sessions, appeals, and ongoing community initiatives. While the MPs will share the workload, they have committed to attending major events collectively to reassure the community. Seah emphasized that the current arrangement is an interim measure while the party works toward appointing a new grassroots adviser. He acknowledged that the absence of a dedicated Malay/Muslim adviser is not ideal and expressed a clear hope that this role will be filled in the near future to better serve the diverse needs of the constituency.
Residents have expressed sadness over the departure of Faishal, who was widely regarded as an approachable and active representative. The remaining MPs have pledged to work doubly hard to minimize any disruption to the services provided to the public. The People's Action Party leadership has indicated that more details regarding the long-term strengthening of the team will be shared in due course, but for now, the focus remains on stabilizing operations and maintaining the standard of care for Kembangan residents.
