Sport Singapore has officially launched the 11th edition of GetActive! Singapore, an annual islandwide initiative designed to unite the nation through sports and community engagement. The event, which kicked off on August 1, 2026, at Our Tampines Hub, serves as a lead-up to Singapore’s 61st National Day celebrations. The launch event featured a National Day Observance Ceremony, where nearly 1,000 participants joined in singing the National Anthem and reciting the National Pledge, marking the 60th anniversary of the pledge.
Running from July 25 to August 8, 2026, the program offers a wide variety of sporting experiences, festivals, and competitions. These activities are tailored to be inclusive, catering to different age groups and abilities. Key highlights include the Youth@Play festival for tertiary students, which focuses on popular activities like skateboarding, sport climbing, and pickleball, and the ActiveX Playdate, which fosters intergenerational bonding by pairing seniors from Active Ageing Centres with primary school students.
Beyond these specific programs, the event encourages public participation through the GetActive! Singapore Workout, known as the Dance of the Nation. This fitness routine is choreographed to this year's National Day theme songs, inviting citizens to exercise together as a community. The festivities are set to culminate on August 8 with ActiveSG Celebrates! sport carnivals held at five different ActiveSG Sport Centres across the island.
By providing affordable and accessible opportunities for physical activity, the initiative aims to promote a healthy lifestyle while strengthening social cohesion. The event is supported by various community partners and government agencies, reflecting a collaborative effort to encourage active living among all Singaporeans. As the nation prepares for its birthday, the organizers hope these events will inspire a lasting commitment to both fitness and national unity.
