Singapore's public transport network is set to expand with the addition of four new stations to the Cross Island Line (CRL), enhancing connectivity for residents in the western regions. These stations are expected to be operational by the late 2030s, providing improved access to areas such as Taman Jurong and the surrounding industrial estates.
The CRL, Singapore's eighth MRT line, is designed to be fully underground and automated, spanning approximately 50 kilometers with around 30 stations across the island. It aims to enhance east-west travel from Changi to the Jurong Industrial Estate, serving as an alternative route to the East-West and Downtown Lines. The line is being constructed in three phases, with the first phase expected to open in 2030.
The addition of these four stations is part of the CRL's Phase 3 extension, which will connect the line to the western regions.
