On July 6, 2026, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) conducted coordinated raids across multiple locations island-wide, resulting in the arrest of 17 individuals—14 men and 3 women—aged between 45 and 76. These individuals are suspected of conducting unlawful remote gambling operations. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Criminal Investigation Department, the Police Intelligence Department, and the Special Operations Command.

The raids took place in various areas, including Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh, Potong Pasir, Changi, Pasir Ris, Bedok, Joo Chiat, Tampines, Kaki Bukit, West Coast, Bukit Batok, and Choa Chu Kang. During these operations, authorities seized over S$720,000 in cash, electronic devices such as mobile phones and computers, and gambling-related paraphernalia.

Following the arrests, four men, aged between 47 and 76, and a 47-year-old woman were charged on July 8 under the Gambling Control Act 2022. Investigations into the remaining individuals are ongoing.

Under the Gambling Control Act, individuals found guilty of conducting unlawful betting operations as operators face fines up to S$500,000 and imprisonment for up to seven years. Those acting as agents in such operations may be fined up to S$200,000 and imprisoned for up to seven years. Individuals who gamble with unlawful gambling service providers can be fined up to S$10,000 and/or imprisoned for up to six months.

The SPF emphasized that major international sporting events, such as the FIFA World Cup, often lead to an increase in gambling activities, including illegal betting. The police have committed to continuing firm enforcement actions against such illicit activities to prevent and deter individuals from participating in or profiting from unlawful gambling.

Members of the public seeking assistance for gambling addiction are encouraged to contact the National Council on Problem Gambling at 1800-6-668-668. Those who encounter illegal gambling websites or advertisements are advised to call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000 or submit information online at

This operation underscores the SPF's ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and upholding the integrity of Singapore's laws by targeting and dismantling illegal gambling operations.
